Motor Horse Power Award for Glen

Lindsay Park Staff Member Glen Postlethwaite wins Motor Racing Award

SPEEDS of up to 260km per hour would frighten most people, but for local Glen Postlethwaite it's something he's worked his whole life to be able to do.

The car fanatic and driver took home the winning trophy for Round 6 of the Australian Motor Racing Series at Winton Motor Raceway, in the group 4 touring car class.

Falling just short of taking out the whole series by 0.09 seconds, Mr Postlethwaite said it was great to be recognised on his last race of the season and take out the top spot.

"I just love being behind the wheel and have been around cars since I was so young, so I've always had a passion for it," Mr Postlethwaite said.

"I always wanted to race when I was younger and just couldn't really afford it, so was wrapped to start when I was 16."

Not only did the 23 year old conquer the track last weekend but he also built his race car from the ground up, which use to be a standard road car.

Using the same 5.7 litre V8 throughout his journey, Mr Postlethwaite has spent plenty of his time and money on the vehicle, but he says he wouldn't have it any other way.

"It's all after hours work and on the weekends but it's all worth it when you get out there," he said.

"I put every piece of the car together so I know the whole thing and it helps when I'm out there racing.

"We will run it again next year and hopefully we can take out the whole series."

Taking out several wins at a state level, this is the first time he has been recognised for a national level win.

Saying there is "nothing else like it" it always a massive adrenaline rush when Mr Postlethwaite is out on the track.

"I was pretty neck and neck on the day and it's awesome to have a close battle with someone," he said.

Admitting the feeling behind the wheel makes it all worth it, with a 500 horse power motor and a trophy to take with you at the end of it all.

Glen started with LPR 3 ½ years ago and has just completed his Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship. He built the race car himself and well deserves the accolades and award.

Congratulations Glen from all at Lindsay Park we are proud of Glen’s own horse power achievement.
